How to use the Imperial Knowledge Base

# Welcome to the Imperial Knowledge Base

## What is this?

This is **Imperial Knowledge Base** — our central wiki for all processes, documentation, SOPs, and guides. Think of it like Confluence, but self-hosted and integrated with Mattermost.

## How to Log In

1. Go to [wiki.imperialnetworkph.com](https://wiki.imperialnetworkph.com)
2. Click **Login with Mattermost**
3. If you are already logged into Mattermost, you will be logged in automatically
4. If not, enter your Mattermost credentials

*Your Mattermost account IS your wiki account. No separate registration needed.*

## Key Concepts

<table id="bkmrk-concept-description-"><thead><tr><th>Concept</th><th>Description</th><th>Example</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>**Shelves**</td><td>Top-level categories that group related books</td><td>"NOC Operations", "Network Infrastructure"</td></tr><tr><td>**Books**</td><td>A collection of pages about one topic</td><td>"BGP Configuration", "Shift Handoff Procedures"</td></tr><tr><td>**Chapters**</td><td>Optional sub-sections within a book</td><td>"Border Routers", "Route Reflectors"</td></tr><tr><td>**Pages**</td><td>Individual documents with content</td><td>"How to restart BGP session on VM2-INI"</td></tr></tbody></table>

## How to Create a Page

1. Navigate to the book where you want to add content
2. Click the **New Page** button (top right)
3. Give it a title
4. Write your content using the editor (works like Google Docs / Word)
5. Click **Save Page**

You can also use **Markdown** if you prefer - switch the editor in your profile settings.

## Tips

- **Search** - use the search bar at the top to find anything across all books and pages
- **Attachments** - you can attach files (PDFs, images, configs) to any page
- **Revisions** - every edit is tracked. You can view and restore previous versions
- **Tags** - add tags to pages for easier filtering (e.g., "mikrotik", "billing", "sop")
- **Favorites** - star pages you use often for quick access

## What Should Go Here?

- SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for every team
- Troubleshooting guides (network, billing, field)
- Server and router configurations
- Onboarding guides for new team members
- Meeting notes and decisions
- Anything the team needs to reference more than once

## Need Help?

Ask in **\#town-square** on Mattermost, or message **@rodelo or @japs** directly.
